Project Management

"At its most fundamental, project management is about people getting things done."  Dr Martin Barnes, APM President 2003-2012.

What is project management?

Definition :

Project management is the application of processes, methods, knowledge, skills and experience to achieve the project objectives.

General :

A project is a unique, transient endeavour, undertaken to achieve planned objectives, which could be defined in terms of outputs, outcomes or benefits. A project is usually deemed to be a success if it achieves the objectives according to their acceptance criteria, within an agreed timescale and budget.

VALMAR has listened to its customers and recognises that there is a need for well-developed Project Management skills to help ensure that customer needs and expectations can be addressed in an efficient and professional manner. VALMAR endeavours to ensure that their PM's can operate with agility between the following quadrants.

We often hear that Project Managers are one or two dimensional. As an example, we hear that projects run into trouble because of a PM's comfoft zone being the epi-center of their day to day focus. this may impact team dynamics, cohession, effective communication and ultimately lead to poor project performance.

One of our core beliefs here at VALMAR is that a man was put on the moon not through developing a GANTT chart and expecting everything to go to plan.
